St Julian's Travel Guide

At a Glance

With its glorious sandy beach and waterfront with numerous bars, cafes and restaurants you can chill while the sun is shining but when the sun goes down, that's when the fun starts!

That's because St Julian's and Paceville is the party capital of Malta. At night the bars and clubs come alive and go on until dawn, and sometimes beyond!

For those of us who value a good nights sleep St Julian's also offers very good shopping with its varied shops including boutiques and more established brands plus markets where you can buy locally made arts and crafts. All of this is thirsty work so after a few hours shopping head down to the waterfront and enjoy lunch or dinner with a delicious meal and a glass of whatever you fancy while looking at across the glistening sea.

Getting Around

Getting around Malta is easy, mainly due to the fact it's a small island but also because of the excellent bus services that serve all the major tourist areas and are inexpensive and efficient.

Eating and Drinking

Eating out is a must as it gives you the chance to sample the delicious local food with influences from across the Mediterranean to North Africa that creates a unique fusion of tastes. There are restaurants in St Julian's to suit any budget too, from a local café serving fresh fish to fine dining restaurants with spectacular sea views.

Things to See and Do

There's lots to see and do in and around St Julian's. We've said about the beautiful beach, shopping and the waterfront, plus there's a host of day trips including half or full day tours of Malta. If you want a day on the water there is a choice of day trips on various types of vessel, one of the most popular being a Turkish Gullet to Gozo with a stop off at the Blue Lagoon in Camino.

The Malta Experience is also good. It's like a cinema where you take your seat and a film tells you all about the history of Malta. It gets really interesting when your seat starts shaking and tipping backwards and forwards! Great fun. There is also a 'hop on hop off' sightseeing bus which is always worth doing, its relaxing and you get a lot of information about Malta.

You can also go parasailing where you get to see Malta from a different view!

Nightlife

St Julian's has plenty of nightlife, don't worry about that! It all happening in Paceville, or PV to those in the know, which is in the centre of St Julian's. Here you will find a variety of bars and clubs and young tourists and locals dancing the night away. Prices are reasonable too with a pint of lager about £3.

Bars include Footloose, there is a great atmosphere here and they a wide variety of music. There are also latin bars, Feugo Salsa Bar is popular, here you can let your hair down and salsa into the night…sounds very exotic! There are of course various themed bars including an Corks Irish Bar, the Nordic Bar and BJ's that play music from back in the day.

It's fair to say you are spoilt for choice when choosing a night out in St Julian's, whether you're a teenager looking to see the sun come up or shall we say a little more mature and are looking for some banging 80s tunes to transport you back in time!

Events

There are many different events in Malta throughout the year. These include Folklore events, classical music events and recitals, parades celebrating Malta's history or the SummerDaze festival with bands and singers holding concerts across Malta in August.

There also beer festivals and a festival for arts and crafts. You name it and there's probably a festival for it in Malta!
